Detroit's east side is on the road, and tonight it lands in Denver. 42 Dugg and Babyface Ray bring "4 The Trenches Tour" to Summit Music Hall, one stop inside a 29 city run that started May 30 and closes back home at The Fillmore Detroit on July 31.
The pairing makes sense on paper and even more sense in person. 42 Dugg, born Dion Hayes, came up in Detroit's Denby neighborhood and built his CMG and 4PF affiliated run into a national name after his release from prison in 2023, following it with 4eva Us Neva Them and its sequel. Babyface Ray, born Marcellus Register, is a Team Eastside original whose steady run of tapes, including Codeine Cowboy, made him one of the most consistent voices to come out of the city. The two have history on record too, most notably the gold certified "Ron Artest."
The tour framing leans hard into that shared origin story, billed as a homecoming for two artists who never stopped repping the city that raised them. Denver is roughly the tour's midpoint, a stretch of dates that has already run through Cincinnati, Cleveland, Boston, and Atlanta before heading west. By the time the run closes in Detroit at the end of July, it will have carried that east side sound to nearly thirty cities that had no obligation to listen, and did anyway.
